Rose City Bluegrass has been well known
and received throughout New England, New York, and Pennsylvania for almost two
decades. They have performed at Bluegrass festivals, business parties, churches,
fairs, and winter music concerts.
The Band plays in the tradition of
Bluegrass Music (Traditional Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel), choosing mostly songs from
the Bluegrass standard repertoire, with a unique and solid family rhythm. The
musicianship is award winning. The live performances are entertaining.
Rose City Bluegrass, named in 1987 after
the Rose City, Norwich, Connecticut, is a Bluegrass Music Family Band. Prior to
1987, with the daughters and parents all sharing the same last name, Bumgarner, the Band
name was the Bumgarner Family. Cathy and Cheryl changed their names once they
married, and Cheryl's husband became a member. The name Rose City became the new
name. In the new century, comically, everyone has left the hometown, but the name
remains.
